Parapet

A parapet refers to a low protective wall or barrier that extends above the roofline or edge of a building, balcony, terrace, or bridge. It is typically positioned at the perimeter of a structure, serving various functional and aesthetic purposes. Parapets are designed to serve various purposes including acting as a guardrail to prevent people from accidentally falling off the edge of a building or elevated platform. Additionally, they can serve as a decorative or architectural element, enhancing the visual appeal of a structure. These walls can have diverse designs, ranging from plain and functional to highly ornamental, incorporating elements like balustrades, panels, openings, or decorative motifs. Parapets can be constructed from various materials, including brick, stone, concrete, metal, or even glass, depending on the architectural style and construction requirements of the building.
